Sam Raimi in talks to direct doctor strange sequel
It feels so long ago since we were first introduced to Doctor Strange that many fans began to wonder when a sequel would ever surface. Considering that the film arrived at an intricate part of the MCU's third phase, there was a lot that had to transpire before the powerful mage got another solo outing which we'll soon see in the form of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, the sequel had a major setback after Scott Derrickson, who directed the first film, exited from directing the follow up due to creative differences. Since then, production slowed down a smidge as Marvel Studios scattered to look for a replacement, and it looks like they've already found the perfect candidate: Sam Raimi. Yup, the very same man who directed the original Spider-Man trilogy as well as several horror classics such
as The Evil Dead and Darkman. Marvel has been mum on the details as they've haven't made the announcement official but given Raimi's track record and familiarity with Marvel's properties, it would only make much more sense to have him take over the reins. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for release May 7, 2021.
