Sheep and the city
I have to confess: I absolutely adore stop motion films, from Wallace and Gromit to A Town called Panic. I have a soft spot for these type of movies ever since I was a kid, and I still do. Sadly I didn't have the opportunity to see Shaun the Sheep Movie during it's tragically short run in the U.S., which made the wait for its' home release all the more painful but after a long period I finally got to see it and the guys at Aardman deliver once again. The story is a simple setup: Shaun is a sheep who along with his flock family follows a daily routine on the farm. Bored of the monotony, Shaun and the flock decide to enjoy a day to themselves by tricking the farmer to fall back to sleep by literally counting sheep and rest in a caravan. Not everything goes according to plan

as the caravan accidentally rolls away and ends up in the city. Without direction from the farmer, the sheep have no way to coordinate themselves on the farm let alone feed themselves in which Shaun and the flock head to the city to search for him. Shaun the Sheep Movie is without hyperbole an animated masterpiece; both artistically and humorously. There is absolutely no spoken dialogue throughout the whole movie instead relying solely on physical humor; the movie is not only a delight to look at but you can clearly see the hilarity that's going on. I expected nothing less from the same guys that gave us Chicken Run and the Wallace and Gromit shorts but they've truly outdone themselves this time, definitely their best work. Shaun the Sheep Movie is now officially my favorite animated film this year and I humbly recommend it.
