The Predator
-Quickie Review, 1/14/19

The hunt is dead

How is it possible to take one of the most memorable creatures in movie history and turn it into a ridiculous, lame joke? What was meant to help breath new life into the franchise, the only thing The Predator managed to accomplish is destroy it for good. The plot was simple enough. A predator on the run escapes and lands on Earth bringing with it a new, threatening version of his kind in pursuit. What results is a bloody but unexciting melee between a government group trying to uncover the secrets of the predator, a team of numbnut lunatics that are more annoying than amusing, and an autistic kid who is somehow able to successfully interface with the predator's tech. What could have been a fun sequel (or reboot, whatever you want to call it) with some cool creature action instead ends up being a complete waste of time. Even with the late re-shoots to change the poorly received ending, it still felt underwhelming and lackluster. From the off-color humor, the weak action, the boring pace and the questionable casting choices, not only is The Predator the worst film in the entire franchise but also one of the most disappointing ever.
